Alligator season is underway in Florida. The state issued 4,500 permits to hunters. A limited number of permits have been issued each year since the huge reptiles were taken off the threatened species list.Game warden were out in force on the first night."The first night is people just getting warmed up to the hunt. We're out here just to make sure that people are safe and hunting where they're supposed to be," said Florida Fish and Wildlife officer Matt Ervin.Hunters usually work from airboats and can use harpoons, hooks, gig or snares to catch the alligators.
