Has the moose come to a halt... or? Yes that might be the point. Finally. The work of the dog has been going on for an hour. Now one must not be pressed for time. The moose must be concentrated on the dog - nothing else.

After another hour the wary creep starts. The direction of the wind is controlled and the map is studied. The altitude and the long valleys make the wind change the direction. Just a little scent and everything might be lost.

After 20 minutes more we are quite close. The bark of the dog increases as it is conscious of our presence. The dog comes to us just to return to the moose. We can not see the moose because the wood is too thick. Suddenly the moose rushes for the dog.

Now we see it - it is a large moose bull. It is impossible to shot although the distance is not more than 50 yards. Now the moose and the dog move from us but make a halt close to the edge of the bog. Only the hind quarters are visible - impossible to shot. The dog irritates and attacks. With lowered head the moose rushes for the dog. The complete side of the moose becomes visible. One shot is enough.

The moose was never conscious of the presence of the human being.
