Whitehorse -- The Yukon has dumped a decade-old lottery system in favour of a new policy that allows a permit to be granted to all eligible bison hunters in an effort to manage the massive animals' population growth.

The territorial government has also removed a restriction requiring successful hunters to wait five years before applying for another permit.
