Eighty per cent of New South Wales forests have been declared open to hunters who want to shoot feral animals.

The State Government has added about 450,000 hectares to the 180 forests that were opened up to shooters two years ago.

The chief executive of the Game Council of NSW, Brian Boyle, says the new areas will be opened up to hunting over the next six months.
