Hawaii's hunters and anglers spend more than $154 million a year on hunting and fishing.
According to a new report, "Hunting and Fishing: Bright Stars of the American Economy," Hawaii has about 100,000 hunters and anglers who generate $14 million in state and local taxes.
The sports support 2,500 jobs and create $71 million in pay.
Nationally, 34 million sportsmen spent more than $76 billion in 2006.
Texas tops the nation with 2.6 million hunters and anglers, spending $6.6 billion, supporting 106,000 jobs and generating $1.3 billion in tax revenues.
