A 5 year-old boy shot and killed a 440 pound Black Bear while hunting with his grandfather in Arkansas County, Arkansas.

Tre Merrit was in a tree stand with his grandfather when he saw the bear walk out of a thicket.  Tre’s grandfather says “he came in about 40 to 50 yards and when he got in the open, I whistled at him and he stopped and I said ‘shoot him Tre’” 

After Tre pulled the trigger, his grandfather said, “I told him, I said ‘Tre, you missed the bear.’  He said, ‘papaw, I squeezed the trigger and I didn’t close my eyes.’ He said, ‘I killed him.’”
