Today, many sportsmen are looking for more opportunities to be out in the fields and woods. Predator hunting is definitely something that they can take advantage of and help avoid getting cabin fever.In turn, coyote populations have increased to all-time highs and so has the popularity of pursuing these critters.To be successful in harvesting these animals that have extremely good survival skills, many hunters have abandoned the standard, old-time hunting methods in favor of newer tactics.The growing number of coyotes has created problems for farmers and ranchers. In some states, where the coyote population is extremely high, some people are employing small helicopters to flush these fast moving targets from their resting spots out into the open areas where shooters can dispatch them with shotguns.Others are using dogs trained to hunt coyotes, requesting the help of trappers, or just riding around locating and shooting them. While rifles are the choice of most hunters, handguns and archery equipment are also popular in those areas where coyote populations are high and frequent shots can be taken.
