Federal Indigenous Affairs Minister Mal Brough says his Government will commission a study to look into job opportunities for Indigenous people in controlling feral camel numbers in Central Australia.
Mr Brough says the estimated 600,000 camels in the region pose problems for pastoralists and traditional owners.
He says $500,000 from the Aboriginal Benefit Account will be used to follow up on the study.
He says there could be jobs for Indigenous people in camel culling and in the creation of a mobile camel abattoir.
