Elk is a large deer with palmate antlers, a sloping back, and a growth of skin hanging from the neck. It is native to northern Eurasia and northern North America. Called MOOSE in North America.
The hunting area of the giant moose of Yakutia, which is considered to be the biggest moose in the world (the world champion comes directly from Yakutia), is done in the tundras in the north of the country near the North Sea. The hunt can be done in September, in the rut season, searching for moose by binoculars from the hillocks in the tundra, trying to approach them through the immense marshes where they live. On the contrary, in November, the hunt is done when the tundra is completely frozen with temperatures under 30° C, looking for moose by motor sleighs, which is a much more productive way of hunting. Lodging is provided in heated tents without services. A sleeping bag is a must. It is also possible to reach the hunting area by helicopter.
